Line Clearance Program Improves Electric Service ReliabilityDETROIT, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ Detroit Edison line-clearance crews will beworking in 39 Southeastern Michigan communities in January and February, continuing their year-round effort to maintain service reliability by keepingtrees and branches away from power lines."We trim trees for two very important reasons to ensure our customershave dependable electric service and to prevent safety hazards," said VinceDow, DTE Energy vice president of Distribution Operations."By maintaining a10-foot clearance between tree branches and our power lines, we cansignificantly reduce tree-related power outages."Tree interference is responsible for about two-thirds of the power outagesthat occur during storms. That's why Detroit Edison employs more than 500professional tree trimmers to maintain the estimated 3.5 million trees in itsservice territory. The company's tree-trimming crews follow International Society ofArboriculture standards to maintain the health of trees. The company hasreceived the National Tree Line USA Award for quality tree care for 13consecutive years."Our goals are to keep customers' trees alive, healthy and out of harm'sway," explained Dow."The directional pruning method we use removes only thebranches that pose a threat to power lines, and helps ensure that futuregrowth is directed away from power lines. After we trim, trees are lesssusceptible to disease and insect problems, and because they're stronger, they're more resistant to high winds and heavy ice."Detroit Edison removes from customer property the small branches anddebris that result from its tree trimming work.Larger trimmed branches arecut into firewood length and left behind for customer use or disposal.Detroit Edison will not, however, remove diseased tree debris.Debris caused by a severe storm also is not removed. In the aftermath ofa storm, Detroit Edison crews must work quickly to remove downed wire hazardsand restore power to thousands of customers. They will cut broken anduprooted trees in order to reach locations that need repair. In suchemergency situations, customers are advised to contact their local Departmentof Public Works, trash collector or a professional tree-removal company foradvice on disposing of debris.Customers are responsible for keeping tree branches away from theirservice drops, the lines that run from utility poles to their homes. Althoughthe voltage running through the service drop is significantly lower than thatof pole-to-pole wires, Detroit Edison recommends that customers hire aprofessional tree service to do this trimming. My thoughts were that if we had a chance to make it to the super bowl, we would have to go into Dallas and pull off a win. Then the the Bengal organization losses a family member four days before they go to San Diego. Up the annie now were playing against emotion....A Bronco fan posting a hate reply (I won't embarrass him by mentioning his name) that any team could have beaten the Bengals lastSunday because they were emotionally spent. Let me remind you that the biggest upset in boxing history was largely in part due to the death of the fighter's mother shortly before the bout The fight, James "Buster" Douglas over MikeTyson. Not only was he emotionally spent, but he had been sick all week....The Charger win over the Bengals was huge! Nobody else in the NFL would have beat Cinci sunday and I believe that with all my heart. So the Bolts are looking poised for playoff success...But wait, HERE COME THE TITANS!!!When the Titans started 0-6 I was relieved as I speculated the December schedule.

Throughout the season, out of the corner of my eye, I kept watching the those Titans. They just would'nt go away! And even worse, now they are in the hunt for a playoff spot...So now, for the third week in a row, Chargers are put to the test. If the Chargers are the victors, I don't see any team capable of derailing the historic CHARGE to the super bowl...NOTE: Titans are playing for their life Johnson is on fire. They maybe as hot as the Chargers They're at home Advantage TitansDon't think so. The Chargers beat them the Last two times we played with the season on the line. And, they are without Kearns and Hayneworth.
